Improve Your Soccer Skills with These Simple Tips and Tricks

Jordan Sidoo says Improving your soccer skills doesn’t have to be complicated. With a little practice, anyone can become a better player. Here are some simple tips and tricks that will help you up your game.

Dribbling Drills

One of the best ways to improve your soccer skills is to practice dribbling. Dribbling is an essential skill for any soccer player, so it’s important to make sure you’re doing it right. Here are some drills that will help you improve your dribbling skills:

The Jack Rabbit Drillē

This drill is great for improving your speed and control while dribbling. Start by placing two cones about 10 yards apart. Then, start at one cone and sprint to the other while controlling the ball the entire time. Be sure to touch the ball with the inside of your foot rather than kicking it ahead of you. After you reach the second cone, quickly change direction and sprint back to the first cone. Repeat this drill 10 times or until you feel winded.

The Triangle Drill

This drill will help you improve your ball-handling skills. Start by placing three cones in a triangle shape about five yards apart from each other. Then, start at one cone and dribble around all three cones in a clockwise direction. As you make your way around the cones, be sure to keep your body between the ball and the cone so that you can protect it from defenders.

Shooting Drills

What’s a soccer game without some goals? If you want to score more goals, you need to practice your shooting techniques. Here are some drills that will help:

The Zombie Drill: This drill is great for working on your accuracy. Start by setting up four cones in a line about 15 yards apart from each other with one cone at either end of the line. Then, start at one end of the line and jog to the middle cone while shooting at the opposite end cone. As you jog, be sure to keep your body square to the target so that you can hit it with more accuracy.

The Moving Target Drill

This drill is great for working on both accuracy and speed. To set up this drill, start by setting up two cones about 25 yards apart from each other with one cone at each end of the line and another cone in the middle of the line equidistant from both end cones (i.e., 50 yards from each end cone).

Place a goal at one end of the line opposite where you’ll be standing. Then, start at one end of the line and sprint towards the middle cone while shooting at the goal; as before, be sure to keep your body square to the target so that can accurately hit it.

After making your shot, quickly recover any missed balls; then, turn around, sprint back towards the opposite end of the line, and shoot again. Repeat this process until score 5 goals. This completes 1 set; perform 3 sets total. Be sure not to miss more than 2 shots per set; if so, start over again.

In the end

These tips and tricks will surely help improve your soccer skills! Just remember that practice makes perfect–the more time you spend working on these drills, the better player you’ll become!
